How Funnels Changed My Business

TLDR: You can grow your revenue with ease by implementing a funnel!

If you follow me on X, you might have seen my recent tweet that gained a bit of traction:

I want to dive deeper into this as I’ve been using this for the past 10 years in my business, and is one of the primary causes for my success.

Let’s break this tweet down in a little more detail:

Create a Product

Everything I've learned starts with a product that solves a problem or fulfills a desire. I've found that the product doesn't need to be revolutionary - it just needs to be valuable to my target audience.

Many of the products I've sold over the past 10 years were far from unique - if not just plain clones - but they spoke to my audience.

Even if it was a clone, I realized that the chances of reaching the same people as my competitors were small, so 9 out of 10 times there's been enough to "eat" for everyone! This has been a key principle in my business journey.

Build a Funnel Around the Product

Now, I want to share the important bit that has helped me grow my revenue: The funnel. "Funnel" sounds cool, but I've learned it's simply the journey I create for potential customers, from the moment they first hear about my product to the point of purchase and beyond. This includes my marketing messages, my website, my email sequences, and my sales process.

The key, I've found, is to guide potential customers smoothly from awareness to interest, desire, and finally, action.

I've discovered that sales psychology is a big factor in funnels: the theory is that when a customer buys something from me, they are in a "buying state". This means that they've already committed to me, and if I show them I'll deliver what they purchased, I've built trust. This understanding has been crucial to my success in growing my business.

That trust can immediately be used!

Let me give you an example from my own business. One of my products is a WordPress plugin that focuses on network and affiliate marketers. I've noticed that many of them are great at marketing but struggle with development and setting up things like their website(s).

After they purchase my plugin, I make them an offer that's hard to refuse: a complete done-for-you service. They buy the plugin, get the done-for-you service, and I set up their entire site in a way that helps them succeed with what they bought within 48 hours.

Since they already trust me - remember, they've already purchased the plugin - I've found that the psychological barrier to making another purchase is LOWER. This makes an additional sale easier, especially when it's automated.

Here's how it breaks down for me: The plugin costs $197, and the done-for-you service costs $297. I've seen that 3 out of 5 customers opt for the done-for-you service, resulting in $891 additional profit for my business!

This strategy has been a game-changer for my revenue growth.

Get Traffic

Once I have a product and a funnel, I know I need people to see it. This is where traffic comes in.

I've learned there are numerous ways to attract potential customers: social media marketing, content marketing, paid advertising, SEO, partnerships, and more.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of SEO - It is literally what drives my business, and has for over 10+ years now.

I plan to write more about this soon, but for now, all I can say is whatever phase you're in, START DOING SEO as soon as possible. This is advice I wish I'd gotten earlier. I strongly recommend learning about it, reading about it, applying what you learn, and starting to get organic traffic to your products and funnels as soon as humanly possible! It's been a game-changer for me, and I believe it can be for you too.

🤑 (Profit!)

If you've executed these first three steps effectively, this is where you'll start seeing results.

But remember, profitability isn't just about making sales - it's about making more than you spend. You need to keep a close eye on your numbers and continually optimize your process.

Now, you might be thinking, "If it's so simple, why isn't everyone doing it?"

The truth is, while the formula is simple, the execution requires effort, persistence, and a willingness to learn and adapt. Many people get stuck in the planning phase, waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect idea.

But here's the secret I want you to understand: The perfect moment is now, and the perfect idea is the one you start working on.

So, what are you waiting for? I expect you to take that first step today.

Create your product, even if it's just a prototype or a minimum viable version. Start building your funnel, even if it's just a simple landing page. Begin driving traffic, even if it's just sharing with your existing network.

Remember, every successful business starts with someone deciding to take action. Your success story is waiting to be written, and I expect you to start writing it now.

If you found this newsletter helpful, I want you to share it with a friend who might benefit.
